In 2002 a dad, Brian McAdam, decided to create an event to encourage kids to get outside and explore the beautiful Louisiana Outdoors. He recruited other dads with the same passion and a rodeo was born. Thanks to this visionary group and the hundreds of volunteers and sponsors that have devoted themselves since, this non-profit event grew every year and has evolved into the Jeff Fish Fest & Rodeo.
With over a hundred kids fishing every year and several hundred adults it is recognized as one of the premier fishing events in the country. Please help us spread the word and …Take A Kid Fishing this year.
We focus on the kids but don’t be fooled; this is an Elite adult fishing rodeo as well. Fishing dates are: May 17th and 18th, weigh-in 5pm SHARP on May 18th. Fish any legal water in La., by boat or bank, fresh water or salt.
For the beginners we can provide maps of local hot spots to fish with a boat or without. We’ll even show parents how to rig a pole and tips on what to use for bait. For adults we offer rod n reel division, Spear Fishing, and Kayak division with one-of-a kind hand sculpted trophies. For the kids we give 100 trophies for 1st through 10th place in 10 categories. We also give 100 awards to kids to make it really memorable!
We’ve expanded the weigh-in Fish Fest and partnered with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries. The LWLF provides 3 interactive and education booths manned by a team of marine biologist. They also display a variety of LIVE native fish in their 1,400 gallon all glass fish tank.. DJ, Sno-balls, Kid’s Jump Zone, Casting contest, Crab races, Fish cleaning seminar, new boat and truck display, Ice carving, Mullet Toss, splash pool, and much more for kids of all ages.
